Hi everyone,
Welcome to my first book review on this blog! ^_^
So today I shall be reviewing The Ring and the Crown by Melissa de la Cruz.
I really enjoyed the beginning of the book. It is basically a story about what would've happened if Britain won the Revolutionary War with magic. Britain has the most powerful wizard working with the Monarch, which is why Britain remains undefeated. It follows 5 people and their journeys within the book.
Despite following 5 different story lines, the book was not confusing at all. I really liked the writing style and it was so interesting.
If this book sounds like something you'd like, it's definitely worth the read. However, I was very disappointed in the ending of the book. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this book a 5/10.
So that is the end of the non-spoiler section. Go read the book and finish this blog post! :)
So...
I started out really loving this book. The writing style was great, the idea of the story was amazing, and the characters were interesting. (fav characters were Ronan and Wolf ^^ )
I really was NOT pleased with the ending. I really liked the entire book up to that point when a whole bunch of plot twists were going on. Like all of a sudden *boom boom boom* a bunch of plot twists just happen. Leo was a sorcerer. Why not? They're sisters. Great! Marie isn't actually sick. Wonderful! I would've like if they spaced out all the plot twists more.
I also was NOT pleased how NONE of the couples got together. I really liked Ronan and Wolf and was pretty sure they were going to be married. But no, Marie marries Wolf and Ronan ends up with a hat shop...
So yeh, I really liked the book, but the ending was really unsatisfying. I heard this is actually going to be a series so I'm looking forward to the next book. Hopefully Ronan and Wolf will end up together! :)
Thanks for reading!
